Welcome to World of Warcraft!!!

To better understand World of Warcraft... you must know the creators.

The game was developed and is currently run by Blizzard Inc. Blizzard is an American Video Game Company based out of California. They have been in business since 1991. One of their first games developed was Warcraft: Orcs and Humans. This game eventually led to 2 sequels, Warcraft II- Tides of Darkness/Beyond the Dark Portal (1995-1996) and Warcraft III- Reign of Chaos/The Frozen Throne (2002-2003). World of Warcraft now has millions of players all over the world. It is the largest MMORPG (Massive Multi-Player Online Role Playing Game) in the world. Players have the choice to participate on Blizzard's servers or, which is frowned upon and illegal, their own WoW servers.

Other hits Blizzard have made are Castles (1992), The Lost Viking Series (1992 and 1995), Justice League Task Force (1995), Battle Chess (1992), Starcraft (1998), Starcraft: Brood War (1998), Diablo (1996), Diablo 2 (2000) and Diablo 2: Lords of Destruction (2001).

Projects in the works are Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.

The Game of WoW

World of Warcraft launched November 23, 2004. After 3 years of development the game was finally here. WoW takes place 4 years after Warcraft 3:The Frozen Throne. This was the last time The Horde and The Alliance banded together against the Scourge. (See "Factions" Section for More info) Now, the Horde and The Alliance are at War. You, as the player, have the choice of who you want to side with.

After three years of War, the Dark Portal has opened providing passage to Outland. This was introduced with the expansion "The Burning Crusade" January 2007. What does this mean? You now have the opportunity to go into the Dark Portal and challenge the Demons of The Burning Legion head on. With the addition of the Dark Portal, two new races have joined the fight. The Blood Elves have joined the Horde and the Draenai have joined the Alliance. So what is war like now? Nothing has changed... which ever Faction can amass the stronger force will prevail!
